Team Boniface Racing has a great run in Melbourne at the Victoria Top Guns meeting, winning the final on day one & qualifying fastest on day 2...finishing the event 5th overall….!! A huge challenge faced Thomas and the team for our first ever meeting in Australia. A new chassis we had never seen, low-grip tyres we weren’t used to, racing under lights on a very tight and technical Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club track, 44°C heatwave temperatures and a field of 43 Cadet karts was the mission. The best of Australian Cadet drivers were in attendance for this title. A massive weekend was had and a full report on the meeting can be read here. |

Thomas becomes the 2014 New Zealand Kart Sprint Champion…. A weekend of horrendous weather and challenges were eclipsed by a stellar performance behind the wheel from Thomas. He saved his best until last and crossed the finish line at the Blenheim track as the 2014 KartSport NZ Cadet National Sprint Champion. The racing was close and fierce, but Thomas has always wanted to be 1NZ with a passion. The entire team was surrounded by massive support which helped us all to remain focused on the big prize. The exciting Cadet Final can be viewed here. A report on the meeting can be found here... |

Successful trip to Sonoma Raceway to watch history made! Thomas was very fortunate to be taken on a trip to Sonoma Raceway in San Francisco in September. He was accompanied by long-time friend and mentor, speedway legend Roydon Collingwood. After a long and tiring flight, the boys touched down on Tuesday night (12 Sept.). Luckily, Thomas had formed a relationship with Blair Julian, the Chief Mechanic for the Chip Ganassi Racing Team and personal friend of Scott Dixon. Once the boys got to the track, they were given the VIP treatment and Thomas was taken around the entire pits and garages, and got to experience a bit of life behind the scenes of a highly professional and successful IndyCar team. He got his race overalls, hats and shirts signed by the great man, Scott Dixon himself. He even got to sit in the cockpit of the #9 Chip Ganassi machine as well as the #8 car of Patricio O’Ward, thanks to Anton Julian helping with that. The added bonus was an appearance on Seven Sharp, following a reconnection with reporter Michael Holland in the pits! The video clip is here. So, after a whirlwind trip, meeting lots of key and influential racing people, and rubbing shoulders with world motorsport royalty, it was time to come home and back to normal. While Thomas was away, Dad had stripped the car, refreshed the cylinder heads and had the car painted and new livery applied! Time to get stuck into the Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship at Labour weekend. Special thanks to Roydon Collingwood for taking Thomas to Sonoma and to Blair and Anton Julian….thank you for making this a life-changing experience for Thomas!! |

Thomas grabs his 4th National karting title at Todd Energy National Schools! A fantastic weekend of racing and some very determined driving resulted in Thomas becoming the 2016 National Schools Vortex Mini ROK Champion. The field was full of talent so Thomas put his head down, drove the pants off the kart and came away with a well-deserved victory…….thanks to all our supporters who attended the meeting or contacted the team during the weekend to wish him well. A report on the racing can be found here…. |

Thomas recently featured in a story on Seven Sharp in September during his trip to Sonoma to witness Scott Dixon winning his fifth IndyCar Championship. A link to the Seven Sharp Facebook page and the story can be found to the left. Since this story aired, we have had a number of interested parties talking to Thomas about his plans to continue to develop as a racing driver. In coming months we can give an insight into these plans, but they are still being developed as we speak! If you would like to make a donation to Thomas and his racing fund, you can donate to the following TSB account:

First race win in only the second Round of the NZ Championship…. The first round of the Hi-Q Components NZ Formula First Championship was tinged with frustration after a catastrophic engine failure. Two DNF’s was not part of the plan, but Thomas was determined to do well at Pukekohe. We spent the first practice session running the engine in after a mega rebuild by Steve King. The racing was fast and furious, with some real highs and a big low. A full report on the meeting can be found by clicking here. |
